I'm out on Possum Kingdom for the first time, and I haven't located any fish yet. I'm not expecting anyone to give up their spot, but any pointers?

I was at the state park. For some reason, my phone didn't show the thread update. Otherwise, I would've replied quicker (sorry)!!! My ideal targets were striper or white bass. I was hoping to catch some schooling and/or see some birds or other anglers' actions to clue me into things. I ran the lake from the state park, up to Costello Island first thing in the morning, and then I took the family down to Hell's Gate before lunch. It was a nice day, and I was thrilled to have such decent water for the wind that was blowing. I didn't have super high hopes, being that I don't know the lake, but I didn't see a single fish landed yesterday. As a last ditch, I set a few jugs around the park, hoping to at least have a couple catfish, but I was very unlucky with rock snags. If I had marked fish, I would have done some trolling too. At Texoma, that typically means chartreuse sassy shad for me. Not sure if white is better for PK water color... Otherwise, I might have gone after a couple of drop offs with the minnows I picked up at the One Stop. As for electronics, I'm not well equipped. I just have my old Lowrance LMS-522c unit. I know, I need something more modern. I just haven't been willing to pry my wallet open quite yet! Anyhow, a bad day on the water is always better than a good one in the office. I really liked the lake, and the overnight accommodations at the state park were great. I would really like to try and figure the lake out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stripes have been taken around Hells Gate area Johnsons Bene with live bait. Camp Grady is producing with same. Found the bait and you will find the fish. Inspect any Loons that are working as they are always on bait . The big bends in the river Chanel are always good to inspect for schools working their way to spawn grounds. The Stripes we have been catching are over tree tops in 30-35 FOW and we use a tandem jig setup dead sticking and using a thumper . ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/03/full-15470-217635-83065071_7cec_4773_9092_0c756aa37757.jpeg)

I really appreciate the feedback guys. It sounds like I was just not looking around quite far enough down the lake. It didn't help that I wasted my morning way north. I'm hoping to get back out there and give it a shot again very soon. Any favorite colors or rigs (besides live bait, of course)? Flukes and sassy shad are typically my go-to swim baits. When they get hitting the top hard, I've had mixed luck with a square bill, torpedo, or Whopper Plopper.

Sand Bass can disappear on PK in March. I know where they are but its along way up the river and really can't be accessed from the lake. They will come back hungry though.
