May 10-11, 2024 on South Padre Island, Texas

South Padre Island, Texas: The Shallow Sport Owners Tournament has become a highly anticipated event where the Shallow Sport community gathers on the gorgeous island to enjoy the pristine waters of the Lower Laguna Madre and partake in a friendly competition to see who can land the best stringer. Redfish, speckled trout, and flounder are targeted by young and seasoned anglers alike.

What started as a handful of local fishing guides from South Padre Island has grown into one of the nation’s largest saltwater owners fishing tournaments, drawing thousands of participants from several different states. The Shallow Sport community has grown considerably since the tournament’s conception, dating back to the 1980s, and the fellowship, friendships and years of tradition continue to flourish. Each year the event grows as an anticipated 300 boats, 900 anglers and their families and friends will spectate and compete this year.

Guided, Non-Guided, & Youth divisions will all procure trophies along with bragging rights until next year’s event and all youth anglers will be given a participation trophy to commemorate their fishing endeavors. The proceeds of this event allow Shallow Sport the ability to award $20,000+ in scholarships to deserving college students every year. At the end of the awards banquet on Saturday evening one lucky individual will win a brand-new Shallow Sport 24′ Classic with Suzuki 250hp motor & McClain Trailer!
The schedule of events for the 2024 Shallow Sport & SCB Owners Tournament is as follows:

Friday, May 10th: Registration Mixer – The fun and camaraderie all starts with the Registration Party on Friday, May 10th at the South Padre Island Convention Centre. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and visit vendor booths while your team completes their registration. There will be music and videos playing on the 60’ LED video screen and opportunities to purchase exclusive Shallow Sport and SCB merchandise and raffle tickets for the bucket raffles and prize boat. At registration, each registered participant will collect their coveted “swag bag”, which will include a custom long sleeve hooded dri-fit event shirt, tournament beach/boat bag, neoprene event koozie, bag of custom KWiggler lures and various other goodies from our generous sponsors. This is a wonderful time to catch up with old and new friends before an amazing day on the water.

Saturday, May 11th: Tournament Time – The big day starts with our shotgun take off at 6:30 a.m. Over 300 boats check in by driving past Louie’s Backyard then take their place out on the bay until they hear the iconic ‘boom’ of the longest-running canon take-off blast. Once fishing for the targeted species, participants can be on the lookout for bright green floating buoys that we distributed throughout the fishing grounds as part of our new Scavenger Hunt. One buoy per boat guarantees a prize at the Awards Banquet. After a day of fishing with family and friends, participants head back to Louie’s Backyard for a live-streamed on-stage weigh in to show off their catch and take team photos from 1:00-3:00pm before going to get ready for the night’s festivities.

Awards Banquet - The Convention Centre doors open at 6:00 p.m. for the tournament Awards Banquet that is unlike any other in South Texas. Shallow Sport has hired a concert event production company to transform the banquet hall into an unforgettable night of entertainment with professional lighting, audio shows and a video recap of the tournament thus far. Bill Miller BBQ will serve up a delicious dinner including their famed giant cookies. You’ll have your final opportunity to purchase tickets for bucket raffle items, all starting at a minimum of $200 value and the Pick of the Litter tickets for a shot at one of three prizes valued at over $2,000 each. Handcrafted trophies will be awarded to the day’s top caches in Guided, Amateur, and Youth division before the highly anticipated drawing for the winner of the 2024 Tournament Prize Boat, a brand new 24’ Classic with a 250hp Suzuki motor and McClain trailer. This year’s raffle boat will feature a brand-new gel coat color we will be launching and with the help of you all, will help us vote on the name! Trophy division winners are automatically entered into additional chances to win the boat. With over $250,000 in prizes given away, everyone has a good chance of going home a winner!
