I've had no problem catching sandbass and catfish (up to 13lbs) with 12lb big game.

probably so...

Knot strength is subjective anyway. ANY line can be popped on a slack set.

I would love to see a hookset that will break 20lb big game.

+1

If you think the line is bad, put down the mouse and go buy some more.

I'd recommend you Q-tip your guides first.

It's $6.48 in the BPS Spring sale.

two things I have learned. One, which is very slim is a cracked guide. I can't see as good as I used to, so I use a (q-tip) and spin it in the guides. You will see immediately, if the guide is cracked and it will snag the Q-tip. A simple trick I have learned, simply take a piece of the line you are using. Tie a simple overhand know with about three feet of the line, wrap the ends around your hands and give a light snap. Start easy, and then work up. 15lb big game is the closest thing to spot lock, you can pull the boat around with that stuff. If you break the line with the overhand knot test easily, you have a bad batch (which would be rare), could be old stock.

On a funny note, you could be "Really, Really mad at them"! I used to have a buddy that set the hook so hard, he frequently would pull dinks out of the water and they would fly over the deck.

I have a spool of 15# Big Game that is absolutely not as strong as the big game in the past. Just use it for filler line now, probably just a bad spool.
