Good afternoon,

My wife and I are looking at a piece of property on the Guadalupe at Tivoli off SH35. Can anyone tell me if I would be able to take my 18-foot Skeeter on the river or will I need a smaller boat?
How is the fishing on the Guadalupe down from the desalination damn?

Allen

Well, It's not much help but I've heard you can do it. I'd be mighty hesitant to rely on secondhand hearsay though. I'm sure Pat will set you straight; you can trust his advice. You have a lot of good fishing available down in the local bays, but I'd want a much skinnier running rig for that. I've never been on that part of the Guad.

Allen, we have a house at Rockport and we had some great neighbors for 5 years that fished the river. He would take his 18-foot center console to the river routinely. Be careful after boig floods as there will be floating timber. I dont ever recall him catching any saltwater specied but on every trip he would come back with a cooler full of eating-size channel cats. Lots of gar if you want to play tug-of-war.

Do you have a place to launch? I would think that could be more of a problem than navigating the river.
