 What does it run to rebuild a 150 Mercury EFI nowadays?

Is it better to rebuild what you have if it needs it, or look for a used motor cheaper?

If you have not already I would call Charlie's Outboard in Alvarado. They have been around a long time and are legit. I used them years ago when I had my boat with 150 Merc...8177832822

Beware of cheap rebuilders. I've seen some absolute disasters.
The two WORST:
Blackbirds out of Pennsylvania, customer brought in a "rebuilt" motor they'd done. Not ONE gasket, nothing but orange pookie holding it together. That was really bad, but far from the worst.
Another customer brought in a 200 merc "rebuilt" by Capt Mac in Austin, couldn't get it to run right, ok let's take a look. Three pistons had no rings. Not missing rings, NO rings.
There is cheap and there is good. Beware of cheap.
