back in early 70's,I belonged to bass club in greenville.Ms. and we scheduled a tournament on a lake in north Louisiana, believe it was lake Bruin and the only nearby motel was on the bank of the lake...when we checked in, the motel owners wife told us we had to put our boats in the water and leave them overnite tied up to the docks.... we tried to explain that not only did we have to charge our batteries but we were concerned a storm might come up with heavy rain or high winds (the docks were not protected)....none of this mattered to this woman, she told us emphatically that they had spent a lot of money to build those docks and she did not want boats cluttering up the parking spaces beside the rooms... we were standing around outside wondering what to do or where to go when one of our members who happened to be a doctor offered to go in and try to talk to her........fortunately he was a diplomatic guy and got us permission to leave our boats out of the water for one night only but he later said he had to give her several hundred dollars of free medical advice before she relented... those of us old enough to remember those days, had to stay in a lot of motels that were never designed for bass tournament parking and it was not unusual to have extension cords hanging out of 2nd and 3rd story rooms at a multi story motel and running all over the parking lot....and we learned to NEVER cut the light switch off beside the motel room door or it would also cut off the power to the receptacle by the door....remember a tourny on Lake sinclairwhere that happened and about 6 of us had dead batteries by noon the next day.......

So she wanted you to put the boats in the water so as not to clutter the parking spots. What were you supposed to do with the trailers?

When in doubt, set the hook.

The weight of the trailer won’t sink the boat. Just unhook the trailer from the truck and leave the trailer attached to the boat.

New docks…she wanted the boats left in the water instead of cluttering the parking lot. Do empty trailers clutter the parking lot less than trailers with boats on top of them? Is this story made up?

as i recall she didn't want boats or trailers parked beside their motel rooms which would have required us to launch our boats and leave trailers in parking lot at boat ramp.....

Is this story made up? last time you responded to one of my threads, you called me a liar and now you are insinuating this is a made up story which is just a nice way of calling someone a liar... posts like yours are the reason a lot of people won't waste their time making interesting and knowledgeable contributions to this and other forums...
