Put the tube on Athens today. Fishing was very slow due to temps dropping into the 40s at night. I was hoping to get into some crappie but they haven't moved into the places I fish for them. But I did get into some nice slabs, not a lot but enough to keep me occupied: Red wigglers on a 1/100th oz jig head was the ticket and the biggest was just a little under 10 inches. Fish were in about 8 ft of water. All fish were released to fight another day. Cheers Y'All

Do you normally catch redear on Athens or just bluegill? Bluegill is the most common sunfish but I get a fair number of both redear and redbreast and occasionally a warmouth. This time of year is normally better for crappie but night time temps have got that kind of shut down. in 3 weeks or a month the slabs should be on fire.

Can confirm Flag's findings. Tried to find some crappie this morning without success. Did manage five filet-able bluegill to bring home for a future dinner. Also hooked a black bass that was easily over 5 lbs - fun on my ultralight.
