 F-150 check engine light

1990 F150, 302, 155,000 mi.
The "check engine" comes on at random times. The Autozone gurus don't know how to pull the codes. I've replaced...cap, rotor, plugs, wires, MAP sensor, and O2sensor. A mechanic told me that it was probably the EGR valve.
If I replace that and it fixes the problem, will the CE light go off? If not, how do I reset it?

Try resetting the computer first. If I remeber correctly you disconnect the positive from the battery, turn on the ignition and then the head lights, wait 30 seconds turn every thing off and reconnect the battery.

Auto Zone can also reset it. I had to replace the cats on my '97 and the check engine light stayed on. Took it to Auto Zone and they reset and never saw it come on again.

It was the EGR valve, light went off.
