I’ve read many threads in the past mentioning the WRC white bass run but I don’t ever see anyone post about it anymore is it still a thing ? I went today and fished about 4 hours and all I was able to get were largemouth I also looked up the tpwd website and they don’t mention white bass as a specie I’m just curious if anyone knows anything, the river looks pristine (except for the trash everywhere!) for a sandbass habitat.

Its always been great for crappie and sandies. May be a few days early.

Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

My buddies and I took a Jon boat up the creek back in late November and caught a mess of them. Most were dinks but some were good sized. They are definitely still in there.

They’re in there along with yellows. Not sure how good it is as the fishing was never the same after they did all that construction on northwest highway. I think it put a bunch of debris and made the creek really shallow in there.

That’s interesting I remember taking a kayak down there 2 years ago and I had to turn back because the water being too shallow, that sucks I don’t remember seeing any debris obstructing the creek from flowing, I appreciate your informative reply.

They were all but netted out circa 2009-2012. Some migrants got onto that they could run nets all the way across the creek during the run and catch every sandbass and crappie possible... after 3-4 seasons of that the sandies and crappies were really hard to find in the lake or the creek. Shocking.

The last few years they are starting to slowly come back. My buddy caught two good ones in the lake few weeks ago. First keeper sized sandie I had seen in there in almost 15 years. First ones I had seen at all other than a dink I caught in maybe 2016.

I would C&R those only. You are not allowed to swim due to high bacteria in the water... cant imagine its a good idea to eat the fish. The water in the creek and lake of course are all run off from Dallas, Plano and beyond. Who knows whats in that water.

That creek use to give up a lot of crappie in the winter months until ran dredging operations. It has not been the same since.

Isn’t dredging good for the lake and its eco system?

Went again today fished the eddy’s in a different area of the creek , these areas look prime for catching fish and came up empty handed, I did see about 15 or so what looked like good sized carp.i just find it interesting that you could find threads in the past 7+ pages on WRC and now it’s gone completely silent, everything you guys are saying make sense. I’m going to continue to fish the deep holes I started behind the soccer fields and I’ve worked my way up to the Skillman bridge . I’ll head back in a few days once this rain settles. Also looking back at threads the run for WB ended 1st of March, everywhere else March is the prime for these fish.

No way it ends the first of March. That’s ridiculous.
