I'm not really familiar with Austin and the area other than driving through, but I may potentially be moving down there for a job offer asap. What are some nicer area's that have a decent commute to downtown? I currently live in Mansfield and commute to downtown Fort worth and Dallas which isn't too bad either way....but I don't want to accidentally rent the nicest house in the ghetto.

There is no job worth moving to Austin. The commute will be 100 times worse.

Just buy a tent and pick any sidewalk in downtown you want. Seems to be the thing to do in Austin..

There better be a big-time bump in compensation if you’re going to move from Arlington.

Traffic is bad everywhere at peak times. Everywhere.
I'd look out by the lake, I guess.

My son worked for a law firm in downtown Austin and walked to work from his apartment on Rainey Street.

My brother works downtown and commutes from Buda.
He said its about a 17 mile drive and he makes it under 30 minutes if he leaves around 6.

Flex Time may be your solution. Homes with a short commute are very expensive.

I'd get out of Arlington as fast as I could and take my chances with Austin. South Austin Buda you could find some reasonable accommodations and not break the bank. Commute shouldn't be any worse than what you are currently unless you're working on the interior of Austin like off of Mopac.

Fly a rainbow flag in honor of Sawhorse this next month. Hope you're getting a sizable increase in pay, Austin was great back in the seventies now not so much.

Talk about jumping from the fire to the frying pan! The traffic in and around Austin has ALWAYS sucked. There was a time I considered moving around Austin. Not today. Property values are through the roof. There is only so many places you can build in Austin, so housing subdivisions and apartments are popping up all around Austin. Especially the east and southeast.

STAY THE !@#$ AWAY FROM TAHITIAN VILLAGE.

Be safe,
Rayzor

It’s central CA.
