if you have cameras on a food plot and you are not seeing any deer, you probably are not going to hunt that plot until you see deer......the comparison i was trying to make is that if you pull up on a brushpile or hump and don't see any fish, are you going to fish it or go someplce else where you can see fish?... Most have got that way using side imagining. If there’s no fish why stay there ?

look at where deer has turned into...we plant food plots or use feeders to attract deer...we use cameras to time the arrivals,we have high fences to keep them confined in a certain area....it's turned into shooting the deer instead of hunting a deer... is FFS going to turn fishing into "catching"? When you have land fragmentation that's just the way it goes. On the spotlighting argument, when was the last time you shot and released a deer, its not apple and oranges. it's apples to oranges to narcissistic people who want to control the actions of everyone else I wouldn't say they want control everyone, they just don't believe it belongs in high level tournament fishing. Plenty of examples where pro sports have banned technology.

I would say its more like using night-vision to hunt deer with at night.

Usually they use SI to look for structure or offshore irregularities, then start fishing. Seeing fish on SI is just a bonus.

I would say its more like using night-vision to hunt deer with at night. Not even close. I can identify everything from rats to coyotes to cattle and deer at night with thermal from a few feet away to 4-500 yards away. You can see movement of animals even farther away than that. I know exactly what I am shooting at and exactly how far way it is from me. FFS isn’t that easy and just because I see the fish doesn’t make it bite.

I've "drop-shotted" with a flasher and hopkins spoon but caught a lot more crappy and stripers than i ever did bass..... the intent of this post was to raise the question as to whether FFS will take the fun and the challenge out of bass fishing....

I don't think comparing FFS to "deer shooting" as being a fair comparison.
Once a deer is in rifle range whether or not I kill that deer is 100% on me.
I was on J.B. Thomas Yesterday and you would have a hard time finding a single spot on that lake where you can look 360 degrees around you and not see fish, multiple fish. The problem is which are catfish, which are drum, which are bass, etc.
The only thing I know is I see a ton of fish on my screen that won't eat my lures. Its definitely not easy.
I do believe you will see some shallow non/FFS fishermen win a few tournaments here and there, but I don't think you will ever see one of these guys dominate over the course of a season or seriously compete for AOY. I hope someone out there proves me wrong.
I heard one of the pros say one time (can't remember who, might have been Clunn) that anytime you are fishing for spawning fish, you are fishing for the smallest population of fish on the lake.
I think what most people have issue with the FFS now is multiple years of experience on various lakes, doesn't give one much advantage any longer. Chasing fish down in open water with FFS is a pattern that will work 12 months out of the year.
Knowledge as to how fish react under certain conditions due to experience, doesn't get you as far as it used to. You can hunt around with FFS and figure our what the fish are doing in less than a day now on a new body of water.
I'm not a fan of banning anything, but I'm honestly not a fan of FFS.

If we don’t get 25’ of water for the fish to hide in the brush, it won’t matter.

In before the next scandal is someone dropping schools of those robotic swimming fish for swimming pools on key spots as "FFS decoys."

What happens when you match the frequency of the transducer with an external signal of the same frequency?

The question is where and when does it stop. Look at Zaldians last video of 2024 graphs on elites boats. Really is this what we want. Boats are going to cost 200k very shortly.
