Put in at the Pecos on Friday, July 27. Pecos is almost Choc. milk, but the Rio is definately muddy. Bunch of sugar cane floating down, but it's easy to avoid...it gets trapped in the sitck ups, and there's plenty of open water.

Yes, the occasional 4" limb is floating, but the bigger they are, the easier it is to sopt them, and again, most of them are bunched up with the sugar cane....so it's not difficult to get down the river. Would I go WOT? No. But we drove through it doing 40-45mph, and didn't have a single problem.

The water clears up around the 2nd bend, and by the time you hit coves and open water, it's normal Amistad.

Yeah stay away from that lake its ugly.J/K

Was there this sunday didn't do to well fish were not biting as usual. Couldn't seem to find a pattern. Biggest few was #4 other than that it was too slow. not even the small ones were out playing. We have had a cooler than usual summer patterns are different. Lake does look like chocalate water though. You can tell that water has risen even in this past week.

Does anyone have good GPS coordinates?

Fished Amistad from 7:30a till 4pm this past Tuesday July 31. Fishing wasn't as fast and furious as previous trips but we did end the day with around 45. We didn't get into any big girls but had fun with plenty up to 4 pounds. Our best 5 was around 17-18lbs. Our fish came on frogs, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and a senko. The biggest came on a weightless t-rigged senko but the most enjoyable action was on the frog. At the end of the trip though, we got into them pretty good on deep cranks on top of a shelf on main lake in about 20-25 foot. They were piled up. We only fished on the Mexican side between Zorros and Lunker Canyon and in and out of the cuts along the stretch on the left before that cement duck blind. Fun trip!
