So went and fished today and my trolling motor would sporadically loose power. I have diagnosed it to being the power wires in the motor. When I pulled the cover on the top side if I put a little tension pulling up on the power wires the motor would kick on. The head cover was pretty simple to get into. I'm trying to get into where the power runs to the prop. I pulled the prop off and found 8mm bolts but I can't seem to get those off; I don't want to tear anything up. So my question is should I just crank down on them or is there another trick?

I would call Motorguide support, they have been helpful to me in the past.

There might be a you tube to show you how to get into your motor

Should be able to loosen the bolts. They hold the lower unit together, should be threaded into the front cap on the end opposite the prop.
