Who on here has or has used a flip kat? I'm an old bassboat guy owning several Skeeters and Basscats in the past but wanted a good rig for a pretty good sized private lake. I want to try livescoping some big bass. Your thoughts?

thanks

Haven't used one of those....they do look very comfortable.

The higher the center of gravity in the water on a light vessel, the more it will be susceptible to the wind.

With live sonar, I imagine that being stationary in the water improves utility. Maybe spotlock capability + live sonar and it should work well.

Another popular catamaran style kayak is the Blue Sky Boatworks 360

With these larger, very stable water vessels, a trailer will be a necessity.

I hear what you are saying about the trailer... however, I have somewhat considered a Blue Sky and thought that it would not be any more laborious to load a Blue Sky 360 vs my PA14. At 48", will fit between the wheel wells of a full-size truck and won't stick out the back any more than a PA14. They also weigh about the same.

For me it came down to home storage, I need to get it through a 40" backyard gate and I don't want to break down the Blue Sky every time I come home (and don't want to make a wider gate).

All and all, I like the Blue Sky. If my housing situation changes (i.e.: some open land and/or barn-type storage), I would probably get one.

OP I would stick with a more traditional kayak like a Hobie or Old Town. The flip Kay is a lot like the Blue Sky in that when it does come time to sell it you’ll pretty much have to give it away. That style is hard to maneuver, heavy, mostly impossible to paddle and catches a lot of wind. The flip jar has a really cheap pedal drive too.

You get out of it what you put into it!
