After some debate I will ask the masses.

If red fishing hooks are supposed to resemble a bleeding bait and help fish catching in the way as advertised; then how do the red fishing lines that claim to dissappear first in water due to their color work. One claims to improve visibility of the bait and one claims to dissapper. Am I missing something?

Seriously, there are studies that say it disappears and others that say it doesn't. So ..........

Water does dissipate color but many factors play into it also; water clarity, wind, sun angle, etc.

Like so many others things, believe what you want and use what works best for you.

This grasshopper is the vexment of all fishermen.

The only time I've see what I thought was the color red making a difference---I took some bright red nail polish and put streaks on a bent rattle trap that would wobble strangly in the water----It did well.

The wife like red hooks cause they are " cute ".

It could have been the color or the wobble.

Hooks are solid, were as line has some transparency....ie mono.

With colors and water, red is supposed to be the first color of the spectrum filtered that will disappear underwater as seen through a fishes eyes.

Matt.

thats a great question because i have been ashing the same thing...lol........i was wondering if i should throw away all my red rattle traps/black & red worms/red&chart jigs.....NOT....i called b/s to the invisible fishing line deal,however..i've recently went to the red hook theory and maybe it's just me but it seems to have slowed down my strike numbers...still studying that on that one.
