Moving to White Oak. Gladewater is 10 minutes and Gilmer is 30. Decent lakes and can you run both? They both appear fairly wide open. Famous last words right there!!

Thanks for the help!

Would not suggest running willy-nilly on Gilmer.
Don't know about Gladewater.

Both are so small you don't need to run. Put your tm down and fish.

You can run east towards the dam past the highline wires. Don't run in front of boat ramp or west under bridge unless you're with somebody who knows the lake. All the bouy markers are gone last time I was there. This lake gets hammered. Lots of Longview people fish it. Better options where your moving to. Gladewater requires a permit and it sucks. Jmho

I wouldn't even bother fishing Gladewater. Im just down the road. Pines isn't far for you, neither is Lake Hawkins or Holbrook, Id hit those before Gladewater. Been a couple years since I fished Lake Gilmer.

Gilmer is full of timber. I wouldn't consider running it unless I knew it well. I don't know why the buoys are gone.

There are three cleared "boat lanes" from the ramp to get to the north side of the lake where the only "boat lane" is to go east and west but none of them are marked or even easily identified. The easiest way to go north from the ramp is to head towards the highway road and go north from there.

As previously suggested, I would drop the TM and fish. Head toward the east side of the lake and have fun. It does get pretty heavily hit by club tournaments for the past several years.

Gladewater is not bad... lots of docks to fish if that is your thing. Yes, Gilmer I would not try and run until you have idled around a few times.

For the amount of time it takes to get to Gilmer or Gladewater, it is about the same to get to the Cedar Springs ramp on Pines and better fishing.
