I have always been a fan of the MLF broadcast team and strategy. Turns out Marty was a big part of that success. JT as the lone fishing analyst is a train wreck. Not good. I thought JT was good in the yuck monkey roll. He's terrible in the lead analyst role. Like the guy, but he is really bad in this role.
The other thing that is just funny is how nobody really knows the rules. Especially on releasing fish. You have guys chunking fish off the deck. Broadcast team doesn't know if its a penalty, official doesn't know if its a penalty, guys getting penalties later in the day for something they did in the morning. The fish release penalty is stupid to me, but if it's going to be in the rules maybe everyone should know those rules. The whole thing is a bit of a train wreck to be honest. Marty was fine for the most part, his voice and cadence was just annoying to many people.

I asked this earlier but no one chimed in - now that we saw him pitching that buzz bait - if Ott was in the opens think he would have a chance back into the elites? With such a large field in the opens and FFS changing the game there's chance the best angler in world might not qualify on the first chance. Go look at the standing from day 1 of the Open yesterday, some big names at the bottom.

Anyone trying to determine how 9 events and 27 days of fishing are gonna go based off the first day is probably gonna be a lot more wrong than right. The season is gonna have a lot of twists and turns.

Yesterday’s coverage was eye opening seeing how fast they scan around and still manage to see fish. Casting accuracy was also incredible. Now that I’m learning FFS instead of just complaining about it, watching the pros has become much more interesting. Don’t get me wrong though, best part of the day was watching Ott sling the buzz. Looking forward to today’s coverage. Take a half day trip with a good FFS crappie guide and you'll learn a ton and shorten the learning curve.

So this is a real simple question, these guys that have been around forever have seen, gps, Google earth, si, di, spot lock, power poles, I'm sure I'm missing something. They have all learned to use everything else to some level. Why are they stomping their feet up and down and just refusing to learn the technology and the techniques. Every industry has had massive changes over the last 20 years. Look at golf, for the most part the day of the fat guys drinking scotch in the bar all night ended years ago. They are athletes now. If a computer programmer learned DOS and nothing else he is living under a bridge at this point.
