Maybe just wrap it with rod grip tape.

Look on mudhole.com and look at their split rear grips…you can get them close to the size and then you have to size them…that’s how they generally work

I have actually used different sizes soda bottle caps and different sizes wa Walker and cane tips. Worked pretty well and are comfortable. But i don't really care about the aesthetics just function
