I love my old Ranger (1996) but it's a 2 stroke 90hp that runs "alright".

I'm at the point of what's next? New motor? or New Boat? or drop money in the current motor...Hmmmm?

Can ya'll share some of your experiences with this dilemma? For you repower folks, what kinda money were you out of and any regrets?

As long as your boats hull and transom are in good condition go for it! You can repower, re-carpet, upgrade electronic's & trolling motor should you desire cheaper than buying new. On the other hand, used boat prices are coming down. Depending on your financial situation, age, health & frequency of use, you can find a very well equipped 6 year old boat in the 45K range https://texasfishingforum.com/forum...50-sho-price-reduced-42-000#Post14686043

I was in the same boat as you and decided to repower. I just got tired of messing with the old motor and wanted more reliability. In fact I pick up my boat this morning with a brand new 2024 Pro XS 150 on it. Call Steve at S2 Marine in Quitman. He has the best prices anywhere on repowers. I checked 4 other places and he was the most knowledgeable and had the best prices. Mercury also has rebates going right now so I'll be getting a $1,500 rebate check from them. I live in Denton and it's a 2 hour drive for me but I feel confident I chose the right place and am actually headed out this morning to pick mine up. You can see pics of it on their facebook page, It's the red Triton. If you decide to fix the old motor call Joe at Town and Country marine in Longview. He's the best mechanic in this area on those old 2 stroke motors...

And Mercury is running a deal for two years of extended warranty if you buy one by a certain date. So 5 years instead of 3

I'm in this shape now. Have looked at new and can't do. Mine sits in a pier and after 2 years of a new one in there it would look like my old one. 94 skeeter 200 zx. I feel transom and hull are good. I just fun fish so stylin and speed are well behind me. Gettin back home is priority 1. Looking at 60k plus boats helps make your mind up.

My decision is 150 or 200. I think the newer 150 would push better than my 200 black max. Just don't know for sure. Money difference is not alot.

Keep the two stroke. I’d drop money in it before I bought a new one.

I have a blue wave 220 , 2000 model, Love the hull and layout fits me perfect. Was having motor problems ,
they wanted 5k to replace entire fuel system. I did not want to put that much money in a 20 year old motor,
New boat and motor is not happening at my age. So I repowered a couple years back with 200 hp yamaha
4 stroke. I love it, I figure this motor will out last me. but it was around 21K.
( boat and motor back in 2001 was 26K )

If you love your hull , repower

Thanks for all the opinions! So far a repower looks around 10k... New baby Rangers are 25k+... Dang fishing sure can be expensive...
