I am looking into purchasing a 10-ft. Power Pole or Minn Kota Raptor. I have an 8-ft. Power Pole now that is 11 years old. It does not actually hold in 8-ft.

Anyone have experience with both of these brands? Surprisingly, I have read some bad reviews about the Talon.

If you have one or the other, would you buy it again or switch brands?

Be safe,

I have had both Power Poles and Talons. Both work. I like the Talons better as they do not rely on Hydraulics as they are operated by the battery. In my exp. no matter what length you get they will only hold in about 80o/o of there length. If you go beyond 8ft it is best to anchor or use Spot Lock. I have 8ft Talons on my 22ft bay boat but rarely use them since I got Spot Lock. The only time I use them is if I am pulled up the bank or 4ft or less.

All the anchors are pretty good nowadays some of the older power pole stuff liked to leak but the customer service getting you parts was A+. 8ft or 10ft you have to factor in the offset at the boat when it comes to actual holding depth. We sell a bunch of Raptors and feedback has been great!

I'd go Power Pole or Raptor. The Talon's are twice the weight and have more issues then the other 2.

Talons aren't twice the weight but do have more weight on the transom. Talons also work better when in heavy brush or vegetation as they go straight down, not outward and down.
