There replacement is great. The give you money towards a new rod. Check it out Even if you no longer have your receipt? I called and told them it was a gift. I think the Champion series replacement costs is $70 plus return shipping

I'm tough on rods, broke 3 or 4 Dobyn's Champs, all replaced fast and easy. Just send them the butt section with the rods description and you're good to go.

The logo section of your rod is all you need (6" section above the reel seat). Cut it out with a hacksaw, drop it in a padded envelope and mail it to Dobyns. Add a note with your name, address and phone #, along with a check or money order for $100, and you'll have a new one sitting on your porch within a week.

That is interesting. I broke the tip on my Dobyns 734 at the end of last Summer. I wonder if this is a wide ranging issue? It's not common. Dobyns are durable. I had a wind knot wrap around the tip, right as I was setting the hook on a fish. I have 5 other Dobyns, all about 10 years old. I'm fairly rough on my gear too.

You can add a tip there but the rod will never be the same. Action changed and my guess is the casting would suck with those eyes so close together. The Dobyns warranty policy is great. Since you have a Champion series you can do a no hassle replacement for $70 + shipping. If you are close to Sulphur Springs you can just swing by the shop and they will swap it out for you and you can save the shipping. Thanks. I called and they said just send in the butt end with the logo, with a check or money order, or they can call for payment when they ship. It's $60.00 for the Champ series, plus $30.00 shipping. I may drive out to Fun N Sun and save the $30.00.

A true defective rod will break within the first few deflections. If it breaks months or years down the road, there is a 100% chance you did something to compromise the blank causing it to break.

I had the 734 for 3-4 years. I'm glad I didn't throw it away. It's been sitting in the corner of the garage, and the wifey keeps screaming at me to get rid of it. Good thing I don't listen to her half the time. Lol. Sounds like I'll just hold onto it, and do the Champ upgrade. What's the address for the Fun N Sun location?

Same thing happened to mine, before I even used it. Open the truck and found it broken, must have happened in transport. Luckily the Dobyns folks replaced the rod. I just stopped in one day driving that way from Dfw,

That is interesting. I broke the tip on my Dobyns 734 at the end of last Summer. I wonder if this is a wide ranging issue? I have a 734 that's 15 years old with a lot of abuse and still kickin. Have shattered several eyes on it though, those guides from back then liked to break, so lots of time in the rod turner

I returned to fun n sun before, but I bought my rod there. May want to give them a heads up before showing up with a broken rod wanting a replacement. Pretty sure Dobyns also allows you to trade up. You can take a broken fury, or not broken, and get like 80 bucks towards another line of rods. I chuckle sometimes when I see a used fury for 60 bucks. You should ask how much they want to trade up to xtasy on your rod

Put it in a pencil sharpener and get a nice sharp point on it. That way you can hand Vienna sausages to your buddy in the back of the boat! 😉
