WTH, is it now being made with platinum flakes and antimatter? DaFanMan, please post up your dog food recipe. Anybody else make their own dog food? Used to get Beneful Healthy Weight from Sams, but they quit carrying it in stores I guess. Went there today and the whole pet section was 1/4 of what it used to be. There's got to be a better and healthier way to feed our mutts. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/01/full-61315-211627-img_6802.png)

I feed mine basic Purina. It is up 50% in 2 maybe 3 years. I guess it is tracking the price of corn. 3 years ago we paid $6.50 for 50 lbs. Last year it hit $10.50 at one point. Fortunately it dropped back to $8.50 this year. I feed birds milo and it was $11/50 lbs first week of November. Highest price I have seen.

Wife thinks the more expensive it is the better it is. Wellness Core food she feeds them is $80 for a 24# bag. That and some raw stuff that’s like $10 a pound. I swear we spend more of feeding the dogs then we do ourselves

Have you looked on Chewy.com ? I used to use them for my dogs' pills and they were a lot cheaper than the vet. I was buying pedigree canned food from them for a while during the pandemic because they had it and it was cheaper than Walmart and HEB.

And for the first four years I had Preema, she ate either boiled chicken breasts or thighs...and then I started mashing some sweet potatoes for her as well. All the dogs like canned green beans, but you gotta get the no salt, because the sodium levels can kill them. Frozen or fresh is best.

Yep, checked Sams, Wally world, Tractor Supply, Albertsons, Kroger, and Chewy. Watched some vids on making your own and it seems pretty simple and I'll know what is actually going into it. Some pretty interesting info, really. Like when using eggs, put in the crushed up shells and all.

I still cook my dog whole chicken then debone it and process in the food processor, mix with boil in bag white or brown rice and add in some vegetables, that occasionally gets topped with some coconut oil for skin and coat.

Seems to me that the Covid production and supply chain issues are still present today, there are a lot of things on longer on the shelf.
Take Coffee creamers for instance, Creme Brulee , Southern Buttered Pecan and a few others are hit or miss, and don't even get me started on the scarcity of unseasoned pork riblettes !

Rooster has been eating Hill's science diet since we got her from the SPCA in 2016. The biggest bag they sell was at $55 back then and always came with a $5off coupon inside. Same bag is now $72.99 and hasn't had a coupon in it in years. She likes it and also enjoys going to Petsmart or Petco ti get it and that's good enough for me. It is what it is.

We feed our dogs what we eat, just make extra, I eat alot of steaks, hamburger, Pork chop.
We buy a McDouble no pickles twice a week for the dogs, and sometimes my wife will boil some chicken livers with and add garlic and soy sauce
I haven't purchased dog food in for years, when they were younger I feed them Science Diet.
