Because of the low water, most if not all trails have left South Texas. Amistad, Falcon, Coleto, Canyon and Choke are still fishable, at least for now. Champs used to only go to Falcon and Amistad, and both of those should be good for awhile. Are there any circuits left that are holding tournaments on these lakes?

There is more to it than just water levels. Good luck getting hotels at most of those locations due to the border crisis.

Low turnouts equal no tournaments eventually

That is very true... I know participation had a lot to do with Champs and others not coming here this year. But I would think someone would see an opening and fill the void.

Thanks! That is what I am looking for. I'm really glad they are using Two Guys. They are really good people.

If turn out is good the first year they plan to expand to falcon and maybe add in choke(depending on water levels) www.AmistadChampSeries.com![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/01/full-117520-211028-amistad.jpg) That looks like a good one for teams able to get there once a month to Qual for the AOY and Championship. I wish someone would do a trail like that on Ray Roberts
GOD is good!

For Champs the turnout in the Central and North were better than the East region which is where they have two of their six team events this year. The North region had the best turnout. The east has so many competing team trails it has diluted the turnout for all of them. It will be interesting to see what numbers Champs pulls this year with the new format. I used to fish all the Central region events but will not be fishing this year except LBJ. The low lake levels here in Central are killing us. Not many ramps are open and the facilities were always sub-par to begin with.
There is certainly opportunity for someone to make some money holding tournaments in Central and South Texas if they can put up the money Champs did. Without the guaranteed first place money I don't see any circuit pulling the numbers they did year-after-year. Central averaged around 140 teams last year. Maybe Champs will be back when water levels return, but water level certainly wasn't the issue in the North region where they had their best participation. Maybe they just got sick of traveling to 16 team events each year all across the state. I know I would. Champs is coming up on 27 years in business. They might just want to slow down a little. Six team events is a lot less work and traveling.

Aint no water down here. That combined with the lakes are all 100 miles apart make for a whole lot of travel to catch 4lbs.

Amistad and Falcon are 200+ miles away and not the greatest, but you have a chance at a big one. LBJ isn't horrible, Travis is empty, Austin is trash. Buchanan is empty, Stillhouse is empty. But hey, we got Fayette a hundred miles east!

Agreed, but I'm not paying 20 bucks and waiting til 8am to fish Canyon, also I only have about 4 days on Canyon so I'm not running it. I moved to Texas in Late '21 I'm upset I never got Choke in it's true glory days.
