Think about a pontoon. As you get older, stepping up and down even in a V bottom like a Lund can be challenging. . I have a Lund and love it, but the next boat will be a pontoon so the wife can sit in the shade and read etc. She goes now but the bench seats would let her stretch out. I'm no longer in a hurry either, 30 mph is fine with me.

Just my two cents.

None of the above. A fiberglass center console is the only way to go in my opinion.

Yep, if it was just me, I’d Love a 21’ Blue Wave. But, I need a few creature comforts for the wife to be able to lounge.

Pontoon is not for me, and deck boat, probly not.

It’ll probly be a regular bass boat, I just figured I’d get y’all’s thoughts on the Deep V.

I figure getting to fish out of them would help.

Thanks guys.

What does a bass boat have to offer that a CC doesn’t? More space, more storage, and more room on the CC. Just go look at one and see what you think.

I had a 24ft CC that was very comfortable, and would be WORTHLESS for crappie fishing. I don't think you can beat a bass boat for the actual fishing part of it.

I fish out of a 22 ft bluewave CC, I have nice side by side seating just behind the front deck , I hate crappie fishing out of a bass boat,

I am not into stand up fishing at this point in my life.

good luck

There you have it Jezreel. Opinions are like a particular part of the body's anatomy. Everyone has one and rarely do we all agree. Look at them all and just get what works for you. At the end of the day, you (and your wife) need to be happy. cheers

Largely depends on what type of fishing you want to do. I currently own two boats. I have a 22 ft center console and a 21 ft bass boat. The center console is great for all type of crappie fishing other than chasing individual open water fish or maneuvering through tight timber. Its definitely got more room and would likely be considered more comfortable to fish, especially if you have people fishing with you. Its like a tank in the water though and hard to get stopped once its moving and hard to get through thick timber areas.

I bought the bass boat recently so that I could do more open water, single pole, Livescope fishing with a more maneuverable boat and it is definitely that.

My plan is to spend the next year fishing mostly the bass boat and see which one I enjoy the most and then probably sell the other.

See my signature pic below. Skeeter SL210. The wife wanted a pontoon for the grandkids. I had to say no to that as I also fish mostly by myself. The fish-n-ski works out great for us. It came with a pad for the back deck if she wants to lay out. Plenty of room in the cockpit. And handles rough water well. I have an Xi5 trolling motor along with Garmin Livescope and Lowrance HDS9 all on the front deck. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. It's been a great boat for us.

Here’s my 2 cents. I’ve had several Lunds. Moved to Texas in 22 and sold my 20’ Alaskan. Got here and bought a skeeter bass boat because I figured that when in Rome… fished out of it about 8 times and hated it. The casting deck was great but I hate sitting down low and didn’t like the way it handled in rough water plus I don’t care about going 100 everywhere. Also the wife hated it. Looked around and found fish and ski marine in Sanger. Made the trip and bought a new left over ‘22 1875 Lund fisherman. Very deep V hull. 150 hp, high sides, built like a tank, fishes great, and plenty of room for the wife and granddaughter to fish or just hang out. Definitely looks out of place in east Texas but it gets plenty of compliments. We mainly fish bass and crappie but have also been to Galveston catching speckled trout and sheepshead. Your mileage may vary but I’m gonna stick with a deep V.

Yep. . . You’re exactly right about Opinions, but for my original question, that’s what I wanted. I wanted to read about people’s experience and preferences. I have NO experience in any of these boats to even begin to understand. The descriptions Zack, RODS, and Mike just gave are what I’m looking for. Basically why y’all have what ya have.

Yep, I have yet many moons to pass before I get one, so I figured while the fishin’ was slow and the Crappie forum was slow, I’d give this post a go. And I do appreciate y’all’s comments.

Figure out how you fish the most and get the boat that suits that style the best. There isn’t a perfect boat for all scenarios! thumb

So since you posted in the crappie section I’ll add this. Some of the Lund models offer a crappie package with two side by side seat pedestals in the bow and a built in bait box with an aerator.

Throw a folding chaise lounge behind the console in a CC. Just be sure to strap in down so id does not blow out.. smile

Or those bean bags I see in offshore boats look pretty comfy.
