Anyone here fishing the Open on Eufala in late June? Got my confirmation email todag, saying I was selected as a coangler. To say I'm pumped is an understatement! Now all the prep work begins.

I finished 5th there last year - get ready for the circus of 100 boats all fishing within a less than a mile stretch. Good luck!

Thanks. Any tips or info you can share? Trying to figure out how much tackle I can have or how much to give the boater for gas and oil.

12 rods 4 very large tackle bags, a yeti with your lunch and no money is needed.

Don’t forget….this is 2024….bring your own FFS and pole mount. You can usually attach it the the boats power poles. Get the one with alligator clips so you can just attach it to the nearest battery in the bilge.

Charrell71 welcome to what used to be a great forum for bass fishing info. Unfortunately the bass section has sunk to new lows. Years back it was a great site top to bottom. But not anymore. Their are a few guys you could PM and they will be glad to help. Ken A. And Mark Perry are 2 good guys to start with. I've read where you just have to consolidate as much tackle into 1 bad as possible. 4 to 5 rids would seem to be plenty. Take extra tackle with you so you can replace or change what is and isn't working. Go to bass and flw and look in the archives at past tournaments on Eufaula. Best of luck.

Congrats!!! Pack a big breakfast, lunch, and depending on boat draw dinner if you draw one of the 20 year old live scopers purposely shutting you out all day. It will give be you something to do to pass the time. Maybe you will draw out a good dude who fishes and is cool but don’t count on it. Everyone in the top 10 was livescoping last year. A guy Austin Cranford even posted a YouTube video about how his coangler ‘cost him the tournament’ because he caught a couple of fish. The seafood/steak restaurant at the ramp is great. Rick Clunn and I enjoyed it last June. Good luck🤣🤣

Power fishing at its finest! You'll be spending a lot of time fishing the rip raps....SB (War Eagle Screamin' Eagle 1/2oz Blue Herring), chatterbait, and your favorite shallow running, shad colored squarebill. Make sure to bring a T-rig and C-rig for dragging. That's really all you'll need. A little knapsack will hold the baits you will need. Pay the pro for gas and bring him a big sandwich and chips, too. Go have fun and learn are your two most important objectives....

Man being a co angler these days seems a lot different than back when I was fishing every weekend back in the 90's and 00's. I had some really nice boats durning that time that I used for my Century Bass Club, Federation and local tournaments but I also really liked fishing as a co angler in Anglers Choice Pro Am's, Redman, BFL etc. I really liked fishing with different guys especially some guys that were sticks like Richard Draper, Jerry Dolzeal, Lendell Martin Jr., Gary Yamamotto, Jeff Reynolds and others and I can be truly honest and say I only had 1 semi bad situation during that whole time and even then I managed to put a 4lber in the boat which salvaged the day for me. I had so many great memories like Gary catching a big smallmouth on Texoma on his Senko, Richard Draper putting me on a big fish on Toledo Bend and bragging about it to Clark Wendlandt, Lendell Martin Jr on Toldeo Bend teaching me his Jingle bell technique, Being on Texoma with Jeff Reynolds and the really crazy day with Jerry Dolzeal. He was sitting in 2nd place on the last day on Toledo Bend and I never thought about running all the way past Huxley Bay and never being in the boat lane the whole way and the trip back with 30+ mph winds on that stump field going back. But just watching him pick apart those Cypress trees like a machine was worth all of the terror on those boat rides.
I had so many great memories during that time period and learned so much that I really had a blast being a co angler and wouldn't have changed anything and just hate hearing all of the horror stories from so many about what it is like these days.

Best advice is to get your mind RIGHT. You better know going in you could draw someone that you will have NO CHANCE to fish the JUICE. It gets old fast when the boater is catching fish and all you're doing is netting them. This will be your biggest obstacle. GOOD LUCK, killem with kindness and hopefully, have fun! coolio
