I have an 87 Skeeter Starfire 18'5" with a 175 Merc. Black Max, it has a 13.75 X 23 Ballistic prop. It is slow to get up on plane and very difficult to run up on the trailer with out over powering. Any help would be a great benefit.

That prop probably isn't vented, and you just can't get it to spin up right.
23M Pro Yamaha prop is a very good choice on that year model boat/motor.
