Does anyone have any experience with modifying a trailer from the usual tongue to a swing-away tongue? I have a '94 Skeeter trailer built by a company in Anson, Texas for the dealership that I bought the boat from. Both the boat and trailer are in good condition and I do not want to replace either at this time. I would like to modify the trailer to a swing-away tongue. I understand that Academy or Cabela's has a kit for this and wondered if any of you are familiar with it or know about the end results of doing this.
Thanks for any info.

CJ

CJ- try posting this in the bass section. I know I've seen it a few times and that there are a few guys who have this mod.

If you decide to have it done you might contact Richard @ Magill Propeller in Lewisville...phone no. 972-436-7498.

Their is a kit from www.pivithitch.com

You can google Pivit Hitch and see images on them installed as well as some threads on various bulletin boards.

Hope that helps and glad to see you still posting CJ!!

Thanks for the info guys!

Yeah Kelly, I'm still hanging in here. Had a couple of bad treatments in June. I tried to fish the Skeeter tournament with some friends and wound up fishing about 45 minutes Saturday a.m. and laying down in the front seat the rest of the day. We left early Sunday so we missed the storm anyway. They have changed the chemo now and I'm doing better on this one--I just hope it works--I'll find out something in September with the CT scan. I've only fished 3 tourneys this year but if I continue to feel okay I will probably try to do October and November and maybe our Classic in December. Hope you and Jennifer are doing well. Did you sell your I boat?

Talk to ya later.

C.J.

Thanks Hard Rain. I trust my doctors to make the right decisions and God to help me through it.

ive done it get a couple of times, take 1/2 plates the width of your tounge and about 15 inches long ,cut tounge leaving enough to weld the plates about 6 inches onto trailer on top and bottom .take the tounge and leave a 1" gap between the two pieces bolt through the forward part of the plates and tounge using a grade 8, 3/4 bolt about 2" from the end of plates. then drill another hole about 4" back through the plates and the tounge use a pin available at tractor supply to secure the tounge now when you pull pin the tounge can swivle out of the way , check before the 1" gap and make sure its enough to allow the tounge to swivle if not allow mor gap
