Haven’t been there since college!! Can’t remember if there was anywhere to stay back then either. Looking for a place to crash where I won’t be itching from bedbugs and still have everything on the boat the next day! Any suggestions? Thanks! Slew

There are some cabins at the dam boat ramp and a few Air BnB houses around the lake. There is also a major hotel or two in Jonesboro just west of the lake @ highway 4 and 167.

I have a camp on Caney. Don't waste your time. That bag was an abomination for that lake. There are 2 places on the lake that those big bass congregate, and they are only there for 3 or 4 days, then gone. It is no better than any lake you care to fish within 20 miles of your house. One is a flat off the outside bend of a creek up the main arm, the other is a hump over on the west side of the lake. Thats it.

They go down deep to the blue hole it's around 100' deep loved swimming there before the lake was full, it was blue as the sky. That hole; if it is the one down by the dam, I suspended a trotline across it running a line from the shore end using a car wheel on the other end. I put 6/0 stainless steel hooks on it and baited it with blood dough bait. The very first run I took nine blue cat off it; the smallest being 14 pounds and the biggest 22 pounds. That lake has lots of big blue cat in it. I always had a trotline out somewhere on it when we had a place there. We always had plenty of fish in the freezer. Crappie, bluegill, and probably the biggest red eared sunfish on the planet as well. Almost nothing you'll catch out of that lake is little.
