Thought this video was pretty cool. It shows how red "changes" as it gets deeper under water. If someone can figure out how to post the video directly feel free.

If I remember correct, certain colors are more affected by depth than others. I think red is one of the most affected and blue is less but it could be others.

Does it affect the way fish feed in any way? Or bait selection? Probably not but it's something I'll put a little bit of thought into going forward.

saw a video years ago by Doug Hannon that showed after a certain depth - everything turned brown(ish).
Video was filmed in Florida so the water was crystal clear.

Red is the first to turn gray starting at 10 ft of depth.

Neon luminescent UV colors won’t change.

Neon luminescent red, yellow, green, etc will be luminescent neon red, yellow, green, etc at 50 feet.

Regular yellow starts to turn gray at 30 feet and is dark gray by 50ft.

I have caught fish on a red bait in 28ft of water so I don't put much faith in color charts. It still works whatever color it seems to the fish. They still bite it.
On the water experience is still the best way to test something out.

Yes, color doesn’t matter much most of the time.
I’ve caught lmb in 20fow on clear unpainted crankbait blanks.

So do you think it was the color if everything is gray or brown past a certain depth?
Was it bait action?
Did it just go in front of a fish that wanted to eat it?

I have seen quite a bit that color makes a huge difference many times. There are several colors that get bit most all the time but some days they are picky and one color will out fish the rest. You just have to experiment and see which they like best that day.
Some days they will bite any color and some days they seem to ignore everything.

this is right! I went from catching nothing on a zoom finesse worm in green pumpkin red on a drop shot to a green pumpkin blue flash and couldn't keep the dang 10in bass off of it lol it is really weird how it all works sometimes.

LOL color doesn't matter to me, but it matters to the fish so I have a bunch of different colors in the boat at all times.

When I rode with Greg Hackey at Fork he did something I hadn’t see or noticed anyone do. He was fishing a big Strike Worm on a Texas rig. He rigged it. While sitting down he threw it over the side. He went through 3 colors that were similar before he stood up and went to fishing. I asked him about it. He said his theory is he wants the bass to see it but not see it too good. If he saw it more than a foot down he thought that was too much. He was fishing a bar that came up to 6 ft from 10ft.

Most of us do this in a way. We look at the water clarity or lack of it then select the color.

Ironically he lost two decent fish on it. They just came off. He could not believe it. On the next bite he fed the fish line fro a crazy amount of time. Probably 20 seconds. I saw a fish jump about 25 foot kind of behind the boat from where he had cast. I thought he needed to make a cast there but by rule they must complete the cast they are fishing. He said “ you aren’t going to believe this but that was the fish I let take it. I was just about to set the hook”.
