Call insurance and roofers.
I repeat this process three times because the leak I never had before still wasn’t fixed.

I had no idea but the insurance company opened up a different claim ever time I called them back.
Three claims filed in their eyes.

did this roofer come to your door?
or was it the phone call for the free roof inspection ?

Door knocker.

Not really ranting on the roofer because I don’t think they intentionally caused the problem.
It was leaking around the chimney.

some people know how to roof
those door knocking guys are amatuers
your chimney shouldn't leak
especially if it didn't leak before
but this is why the insurance rates are going through the roof

let me ask
if you had to cover your deductible
would you have replaced your roof

I’ve been with my insurance company for 20 years.
Personal house
6 vehicles
Two rentals
Boat in the past
Everything we owned thru them.
Had a roof I just had to put on out of my own pocket because they denied claim……

One of the best investments is a good insurance broker. Someone that will actually work to insure you and your particular needs.

You can make insurance "somewhat affordable" if you have a good broker on your team. It's almost 2024 and nothing is cheap anymore.

On this day it's important to be thankful if you are in a financial situation where rising costs on everything are an inconvenience and not a catastrophic event to you and your family.

I agree. When I buy motorcycle insurance, my rates are based in part on the risks of riding a motorcycle, rather than the risks of driving a car.

People who drive EV's should have to assume the risks (and full costs) involved with those vehicles. I shouldn't have to pay higher insurance premiums on my (paid for!) internal combustion engine vehicle to cover the risk that someone's EV battery will catch fire.

Insurance companies are looking for reasons to raise rates. I have read that they will do it even if you call just to ask questions about a possible claim.

It doesn’t help that there is basically zero prosecution and consequences for those caught with stolen vehicles and cats.

I’m guessing 50% of the people on the road are uninsured.

You don’t need insurance to do anything.

Lots of people know that.

I wouldn’t have. They knocked on my door and said I could get a new roof for zero deductible. My roof was 10 years old but in good shape. They said it had hail damage but I couldn’t tell if from the ground. Got me a new roof for “free” That was 19k about 4 years ago.

Just checked with USAA, mine might go up an additional $380 for next year. Of course, that is because I'm about to trade in a 24 year old truck for a brand new SUV. LOL!

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

Just for the record.
You’re the only one that said that I didn't pay a deductible.
