Just wondering here. Can a person “over grease” a reel?
The way to a fisherman’s heart, is thru his fly!

Yes, you can. Too much grease on the main and pinion gear will cause the retrieve to feel gummy for lack of a better word. The same goes for over oiling bearings. Too much will actually reduce casting performance due to the bearings having to spin through fluid. One drop for bearings, and avoid liberal greasing of the gears.

here's a little hint to helpyou remember. the old saying" a little is good, alot is better". well, remember not so with fishing reels. Just a "little dab will do ya." Too much is just like the guys said above. here's something else. on the gears, apply the grease to the base of the teeth so that when the gears mesh, the grease will mix and do its job. good luck.
