I have a 1992 Johnson 115 Pro Series Outboard, Mod #TJ115TLEND, pushing a 1992 Nitro 180. Top end on the boat seems to be ok, I am getting right at 45 mph at 5200rpm. The problem is, getting out of the hole is poor at best. Give the motor full thottle and she falls on her face and slowly crepes up in rpm. Once it reaches around 3500 rpm, the motor takes off like a bat outta hell, but it takes forever to get to that point. The prop is the correct size and pitch, 13.5/19 pitch. The gas is clean and the VRO is pumping oil. Where could my problem be? I have had a few people mention the stator could be bad, is this a possibility? If so, how?
Any suggestions or ideas?

Sounds like you are having a carb problems sounds like one or more off-idle jets may be restricted clogged have you hit the enrichner when it boggs if helps the bog, the carbs need cleaning or it could be that carbs are not syncronized properly If you were having a stator problem you would have a problem through out the RPM range ....OPTI

What is an enricher? I have the same problem with my 96 115 VRO Johnson and I just had the carbs cleaned about 2 months ago.

Just OMC's way of saying "choke" or as the English would say,"Strangler flap"

Hit the enricher and if the rpms go up you probably need a carb rebuild.

I don't have a choke on my engine, but rather, a primer. Though they work differently, I think this is what is meant by saying enricher. I will give it a try. Thanks.
