Has anyone here had it done?
Pro/Cons?
Any regrets?

Tried to have it done a couple years ago. Catheter was just too damn painful to proceed. Maybe if they actually knocked you out first.

I've never had the procedure but, you're clipping/pinning the prostate away from the urethra which allows a man to urinate easier. I've got a family member that worked urology for years and that's what they told me. Some patients are not good TURP candidates for various reasons.

Probably less likely to get you slapped than the alternative of giving the wife a box of rubber gloves and a jug of vasoline for Christmas.

My Uro said they would put me under to do it if I elected to follow through. Other than pills the rest of my life I am not sure I have much of an alternative.

What’s the recommendation on pills? 💊 Tired of getting up several times a night. Getting old is hell…..lol.

Side effects were worse than the symptoms but things have progressed and the inconvenience factor is greater than it used to be.

I had the TURP surgery done August 2022. Took Flowmax for years. Eventually had to double the dosage. I started getting recurring UTI’s 4-5 times a year. My Urologist recommended TURP. It’s been a permanent fix for me.

Alfuzosin (Uroxatral) worked well enough for several years, and then it didn't. I was put off by the trauma (and possible side effects) of TURP, so I tried Urolift while slightly drugged, but totally awake. Possibly the most painful thing that's ever happened to me, and it didn't work. I went home with a catheter which totally clogged within about 4 hours. I finally managed to clear up the blood clot by removing and reinserting the catheter several times.
When it was clear that the Urolift did not relieve the BPS symptoms, I elected to have the TURP surgery. Again, sent home with a catheter installed which again clogged within about 4 hours. Went to EM this time, and wound up in the hospital for 2 days, since the clotting would not stop.
But, long term (18 LONG months or so), TURP worked. I am now 83, pain from the surgery is gone, BPS symptoms are gone and sexual function intact. I did end up with retrograde ejaculatioh as a side effect, which is annoying as heck, but is a lot better than having no orgasm. Another consequence of TURP was discovery of prostate cancer from analysis of the bits of the prostate that are chopped off during TURP. Happily, after 2 years, it appears that the cancer is slow growing and the consensus is that some other age related ailment will get me before the prostate cancer, or my choice, I will hook up with a giant largemouth and get so excited, I will have a fatal heart attack.
If you choose Eurolift, demand some kind of anesthesia that makes you unconscious during the procedure, and whether Eurolift or TURP, be informed about the possibility of blood clots.

Did the Flomax for a while but eventually quit because of the worst side effect. Back to normal after a bit and just have to get up at night occasionally. Still not much of a stream and can be a mess so I just sit to pee when possible. All about making choices.

Look up the benefits for increased urinary flow with it. Also, Tadalafil will lower my blood pressure. There are reasons for that too if you look it up. I didn't want to take the Tamsulosin for the side effects. And............it is good for you know, a cat can't scratch it.
