Last week I decided to dust off my Hobie Kayak and head to McInnish Park and put in at the small boat ramp off the river. This was my first time fishing this part of the river. My game plan was to target crappie fish in timber. I wanted to share my experience, with the hope of someone else sharing there experience as well. So on Day 1 (dec 11), I fished mostly the West bank of the river from 11 am to 3pm and managed to pickup a really nice white bass and nothing else. I eventually made it to the deep hole where Denton Creek joins Elm Fork. I cannot express enough the number of shad that appeared on my fish finder in the that deep hole, It is roughly about 25 to 28 feet at this location. I tried jigging this deep hole, but no luck. On day 2, fished the same time frame, however I noticed a small water channel in Denton Creek that leads to huge pond that I fished for about 2 hours. Same results, numerous shad with no takes. I was completely skunked and my ego hurt. LOL. Anyways, It was a beautiful day on the water and extremely gorgeous part of the river. God is Great ! Always willing to meetup at this river, just PM. Fish on my brothers !
