Hey guys, This is LBH (Russ) from BassResource.com. I hear our 2 fearless leaders got to meet each other at icast this year. Glenn has let the mod squad know what a pleasure it was to meet and truly appreciates the help that was offered. I guess he learned a thing or 2 from TFF and a as a staff member over at BR,..we appreciate any and all the help.
With that said,...
Each year, we plan a roadtrip for the staff and members to get together. This is our 3rd year with the last 2 years taking us to Lake Fork.
Well, this year we are looking at Amistad but have hit a roadblock and I couldn't think of a more qualified group to throw this at.
Boat rentals for the out of state folks. I could find tons of "house" boat rentals but very little on bass boat rentals. One marina has "fishing boats" but I can only imagine what they are.
Any help?
Thanks guys.

The same place that rents the houseboats also rents the fishing boats. Forever Resorts (AKA Diablo East Marina)
They have several to choose from. A couple of deckboats, about 4 or 5 aluminum boats with about 50 or so horsepower motors, and a couple of fish&ski boats. They don't have anything that I would call a bass boat. There may be live wells in some, but don't hold me to that.
They are what you would expect for a rental, they will get you out on the water, but they ain't cheap. I would go as far as to say thay are overpriced.
I don't know of any bass boat rentals outside of hiring a local guide.
(Given what I paid 3 years ago to rent one of the deck boats for a day, a guide might be a bargain)
If you want to go the guide route, I highly recommend The Amistad Man.
There is real need for services such as this here. Problem is, that the NPS controls everything below the 1144' elevation line. That is good for the lake, but it severely limits services.
If you're lucky enough to live by the lake...you're lucky enough

ok, so boats WILL be an issue.
We have considered lots of different lakes and even states but there are other industry contacts that are making it more and more appealing to us as a group. Our main issues are boats and the fact that it's a 4 hr drive from the airport. If we can get around the boats, we may be ok. Most guys trailer their boats, they came last year from as far away as Ga.
It's good to know that services are limited and why, I wasn't sure if I just wasn't looking in the right places.
Thanks a lot guys.

Our main issues are boats and the fact that it's a 4 hr drive from the airport. . Flying direct to Del Rio is an option. Continental runs puddle jumpers to and from Houston a couple times a day. The drive from San Antonio isn't too bad, though. Not much traffic once you get out of the city and 70 MPH all the way. I usually can get it done in about 3 hours.

I know Russ said bass boats, but to clear up any confusion he means anything like an Aluminum Tracker. Not a fully equipped fiberglass rig.

Not sure I would want on Amistad in a Aluminum Tracker, might be a little small if the wind gets up and you are wanting to get out on the lake. An 18 footer can seem small on that lake.
