Congrats to you and your wife. If your wife is anything like mine, she was probably yelling and screaming the whole time she was fighting the big fish!!!!

Ron, this might sounds stupid...

But what is the limit of striper on Tawakoni?

I know it is 5 per person...but is there a size limit?

Reason I ask is I only fish Texoma...and it is 10 striper only 2 can be over 20"....

so Typically we catch and keep 2 over 20" and 8 in the 17-19" range...

That is why looking at 21- 24" fish is weird to me...

Our problem is typically catching a lot of fish like ya'll did and then looking for smaller fish...

Btw...congrat's on your wife and you...that is awesome...

J.J.

I think on MOST TX lakes, (not all) you are allowed five (5) stripers 18 inches and over. So, Ron and his wife could have ten Stripers, and their total possenion limit would be twenty (20) stripers. Since Ron and his wife ate stripers at the campground, and gave fish to his friends, he had less than the twenty(20)fish. It sounds like Ron had some good fishing!

Looks like I may be trolling for the first time this year next time I go out there. I fished for several hours Saturday morning and only caught 2 nice hybrids out of a school that I graphed off Cloud Point. The school was stacked up and looked like a tree trunk. Too many boats on Wolf Cove hump, nothing at the stripe near the dam. I also looked at the Greenville Pump sta. Finger Point had a small boat show where I had caught fish earlier in the week but I don't fish in crowds anymore. Bart

caught most of the fish in 20-25 ft water about 2-4 ft off bottom
trolling speed 2--2.4 mph with a 4hp 4 stroke kicker..when you troll near bottom you might snag a rock or tree.. I USE 2 fish,
depth finders hum bird 400tx and LOWRANCE L65.400TX gives you a big picture of fish but will miss small trees ,L65 willpaint a
small area under your boat and show you the tops of most tree.s etc etc..If I see a tree area or hump I TELL the wife to start cranking 5 times,, that brings our diving plane up 5ft and we hope to clear the trees..the fish holding near the tree hit our grubs..I have lost many diving planes.so I make my owen planes..

Thanks for the info rjs. I can get down about 20 feet with a Hellbender rigged like a hell/pet rig but using a jig head on a leader and sassy shad. I heard that trolling was not working well last Summer so I just fished slabs. The Summer before last I did okay though. I use my Lowrance LMS480 with Hotmaps to troll the contours of the lake trolling at 20 feet over a 22 - 28 ft depth. The humps out from Tallman and the Greenville Pump station have some trees where you can sure lose some trolling rigs. Bart

He is a super guy and great fisherman, those planes he makes work good and he has his system down pat, its like clockwork how goes about catching his fish.

Rj it was good talking to you on the phone and i look forward to fishing with you again. sounds like you had a great time
