Canine vestibular syndrome also known as old dog syndrome. Had a Pomeranian less than 2 years old that became afflicted with this. Very rare for it to happen to a young dog but it's possible. A vet in Palestine diagnosed him. He would have seizures from time to time, was extremely scared of shiny slippery floors and the water in his dog bowl would startle him whenever it moved, but other than that we enjoyed another 4 1/2 years with him until he had an unattended seizure that ended badly.
Might check with your vet and see if that is what could be wrong with him.
If given the choice again, I would choose the extra 4 1/2 years.

As terrible as it sounds, you have to look at your decisions objectively and determine if you are prolonging a worthwhile life, or prolonging a miserable death.

Just got back and the news is not good.

There are 3 possibilities and 2 of them are a death sentence.

Those 2 are 1. a tumor on her brain stem or 2. the inner ear infection broke through the bone and has effected her brain. This specialist thinks its one of the 2

The 3rd possibility is a severe bacterial infection that effects the entire central nervous system & also the brain. This could be caused by toxins, tick born disease or certain types of fungus. I have the strongest steroids and anti-inflammatory to give her now and the next 4 days will determine whether she lives or now, Doc says this is maybe a 15% chance and even if she does improve, her quality of life will suffer....Balled my eyes out at the Doc today but I understand the choices in front of us. Have not told Cher yet, she's going to be devasted.

I am truly sorry, sir. I cried like a baby the day I had to say goodbye to all 4 of my dogs, but especially Oreo as she was the last of that bunch. Her momma had gotten me through some of the darkest days of my life and Oreo was my last connection to her.

Dogs are amazing creatures and I'm sorry you and your family are going through this with your beloved Lacey. I will pray for the best outcome for her.

It brings a tear to my eye. Dog owners understand how agonizing the decision is. You have done everything you can to do right by Lacey. Unfortunately it seems to be time for her to cross the rainbow bridge. It seems from your posts you know what the decision that must be made. Everyone goes back and forth in their mind, is it time or not?

The right decision is sometimes hardest. You will make the best decisions you can given what you see and know.. Don’t doubt that or rehash it. That’s all you can do for Lacey.

Prayers.

My last video/pic on the subject..... There is a 10% chance these high powered steroids work, otherwise, this is it. Such a good freakin dog, I have no more tears.

Man, praying the drugs they are giving her work well and very fast. That video breaks my heart for her and you.
Several months ago our Yellow Lab laid down for a nap and when she woke up she couldn't control her rear legs. It happened on a Saturday evening so we had to wait till Monday to get her into our vet. We carried her out and back in the house as needed til then.
They put her on some real powerful steroids, anti-inflammatory meds and did cold laser treatments and it did worked. Hopefully they get her fixed up.
