Do you miss and enjoyed going to a barber that used the hot lather and straight razor around the hair line ? Well, in the Justin and surrounding area there are only two and I picked the one in Justin. This was even better than the old days and the experience was great for $40 with hair cut and beard trim. - Pampering like this is not for everyone; but if you have time like I do, you will enjoy the experience. - Loren starts with the hair and cuts it exactly the way you want it done. - She does the beard the same. - Then the essential oils and hot towels are applied to soften the hairline and under the neck area. - the essential oils are applied about 3 different times during the process and each has a different barber shop smell. All very appropriate for men. - She waists no time in this process with a neck and shoulder message, with the hand held divices. - Then out comes the straight razor and hot lather. - Loren takes extreme precautions not to get hair down your neck; so no need to take a shower when you get back home. - Lastly, she washes your hair and beard. Don't know what that shampoo was; but it was another great barbershop smell.
Have to give her a 10 on the work: The Shavion Barbershop 10329 Pheasant Run JUSTIN, TX 76247 (940) 333-0798

Nope, I go to a shop ran by Vietnameese chicks and get my hair done, of course you get pampered and head massage during the hair cut
And being in Vietnam fashion they are pretty cheap for the services

Mrs RayBob generally cuts my hair for the last 20 years. Prior to that my 1st cousin did it in her salon complete with shampoo for the previous 20 years. Prior to that I rarely cut my hair and was a long haired hippie type.
I have been to an old school barber shop this year twice but it is 35 miles away. There is an excellent local gun store across the road from it.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

Once a year, I'll get a cut at the Fade Shop where most of the brothas go. Mostly for entertainment value of hearing the needle scratch across the record when I enter the establishment. Good conversation there always.

Yes, when I lived close to Parkland, I'd go to the Vietnamese barbershop next to one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in town. Great folks and excellent fried chicken; they might do fried chicken better than any other.

Sit-n-Bull barbershop in clean Seguin still rolls old school like that. Great place.
Back when we used to be able to cross over into acuña or piedras negras without getting robbed or killed, I would go to a Mexican barbershop and tell them to cut my hair so I looked like Emiliano Zapata. Nothing gets the adrenaline flowing like exposing your neck to a pissed off mexican barber with a straight razor in his hand. Good times.

Yes, my old Barber was awesome. Deer heads, rattle snake skins, 10lb bass hanging all over the walls. Bass Master Magazine, Field and Stream magazines everywhere. He took me fishing one time and we caught about 20 crappie out of one tree on RR in the early years. Took my dad back the next weekend and we still hammer them out of that tree to this day. Named that tree the Barber's Tree.

Couple of places here in Cleburne that still do the old school cuts. Warm lather and a straight razor was a new experience. Was very surprised the younger crowd was the ones doing it. Have to admit, the young lady knew her way around with a straight blade and a face.
Last haircut I got was spur of the moment while I was taking dad out for errands. Went to Great Clips and I can honestly say, it was the worst cut I've ever had. Could have done better to stick my head in a blender.

By coincidence I got a haircut this morning at Mel’s Barber Shop in Flower Mound. Mel is short for Melanie cute owner that does a great job and yeah straight razor and hot lather the end. Been going there for at least 15 years. Make an online appointment and when I sit in the chair she says “the usual” and I yup and consistent haircut every time.
