I’ve posted a similar thread last summer.

Bass fishing in Brazos has been pretty good lately in river. I’ve been catching these little aggressive beautiful spotted bass or mingled genes of other similar species like crazy.

Please check out these pics of em and any experts on fish id would be much appreciated. Got a couple in my cold water big river themed tank with tons of current and lots of air in water.

Markings on these don’t seem to me pure spotted bass in my humble opinion.

I could be wrong and please correct me.

Hybrid smallie and spot or Guadalupe etc?

Below pk dam area these were caught several miles down.

Any Guadalupe’s bass know to be caught in these parts? Or small mouth hybrids ?

FYI last bass is a trinity river bass I’ve raised since a fingerling to compared to others. He or she is what I consider normal coloration of spots

I agree. Didn’t think they stocked Brazos from dam and downstream.

Wonder if some of those Alabama Spotted Bass from Alan Henry finally made their way down that far?

I'm going with regular ole spotted bass.

It’s a spotted bass. The river used to be full of them then the golden algae almost knocked them out.
They are coming back now.

10 4. Thanks y’all. Just a prettier coloration of spot than what I catch in trinity river here in dfw area. Location is around 5 to 10 miles below dam if there is any yakers in area. Really want to catch a smallie but never have nor a Guad.

I say spot. I caught one below Whitney that resembled a Guad that would have been a catch/release record. TPWD said it was a spot and that Guads were not that far up North. Pretty fish.
