I am an old. Do you remember when you purchased your first microwave?
My wife and I were so excited, and we overheated everything for a while. LOL
Probably 1977.

1978- 80 a sharp carrousel brand, used it for years. Worked good. Amana was the Cadillac of microwaves then . If it wasn't an Amana it wasn't a radar range.

Grandparents got there’s right around 1980. Man, you had to let things cool down for about an hour after 2 minutes in that thing.

Late 70s to early 80s. Still have it in storage. Has the dial to turn to set the time.

I know it was the very early 1980's when my parents bought a Sharp microwave. I think around 1982. Our neighbor had one first. She babysat us and we learned how to dip Nilla Wafers in milk or water and then heat them up for like 30 seconds in the microwave. They were DELICIOUS! Her microwave had a turn dial. We had one with touch buttons and it lasted until the late 1990's. We then used one my mom had bought for the office her and my father had for their plumbing business. It was in storage for about 10 years and it lasted about 10 years before we replaced it. My mom bought Granny a Montgomery Ward microwave in 1982 when they built her house. It didn't last that long before it had to be replaced. I know my parents were still married because my father was not happy to have to replace it. Wasn't a good day to be one of his kids or his wife. So, it lasted less than 7 years.

I think I still have the first cookbook we got with the dang thing. Had instructions on how to cook a whole freaking turkey in it! I mean, DANG!!! Can you imagine how rubbery that thing would be?

I'm 43 and remember eating at my grandparents breakfast table and their giant microwave sitting on top of the garbage compactor. If grandma was heating something up she would tell me to move because she didn't want my melon getting scrambled.
