In my experiences, it seems a slow drift is best. If I spot lock, I will typically pitch out and let the bait slowly drift back to the boat. I did this last Friday on a ledge, and while the fish were finicky, I was still able to get bites. I was using a thumper also.

We always drift. Make sure you get yourself a couple of good drift socks so you can really control your speed.

I am with you on this! My daughters are on soccer teams as well. It's every weekend Oct-Nov. The weekends are back open, but I need a new impeller on my 150. It's always something with a boat. Looking forward to some deadsticking this year. I got my driftsocks ready!

. We normally drift around .07 mph. Use the trolling motor if the wind is too slow or socks if it’s too fast!
