To ship that KVD 7'10" rod, you would need to:
1) go to HomeDepot to buy a 8' PVC (sched 40),
2) wrap the rod around some plastic bubble wrap,
3) seal both ends and
4) ship it via UPS
I used to sell several rods and shipped them this way with no failures. A buddy of mine used the hard cardboard tube and it got snapped in half.
