Pile it on and strap it down.

It really depends on what you have and what you want to carry. If you look at the kayak I am selling (below) I picked it up because of the extra space. I sit in the front seat (which moves from and back so I can center up the weight) and I put everything in the back of the yak and put my bag of dekes on top with a strap over them to keep them from falling off. I have also put them in front of me and ran the strap around the bungie hold downs to hold them on. You don't wanna drag a bag of dekes (trust me) unless you have a cart of tub to tow them in.

Let me know if you have any questions. I do this alot to get away from the crowds.

Hey guys, new here. I have actually been interested in the same thing. I sell the Native Watercraft series of boats and think that the olive Ultimate seems like it would be great for hunting.

I was thinking about setting up a duck hunt by providing the boats, paddles, vest, etc. and inviting a couple of experienced hunters to see how the Ultimate would handle. Figured I could bring a camera and do an article for publication as well. If any of you are interested, please let me know. Figured this would be earlier in the season and we could do it at one of the public duck hunting areas or the even the coast.

This is the boat I am referring to: http://www.lakelinewatersports.com/photos/native_rigged.jpg

Cheers!

What about covering up a bright yellow kayak? Seems like you'd need something pretty large to cover it.

Using the Kayak is one of my favorite ways to hunt. I started with a small Mainstream just to access areas big boats and walk-in hunters can't get to. I had to stuff individual decoys fore and aft and the dog sat between my legs. That got old fast, so I upgraded to a 14 ft solo Old Town. I wanted something faster than a sit on top and that could carry a lot of gear and be comfortable to paddle all day if need be. I can carry dog, three or four dozen decoys, a kayak cart, and a blind or camo net. I use a layout Blanket blind if using the kayak just for access, or a military surplus camo net that covers the top of the kayak and folds over me if I hunt from the boat. Dog rides in the very front. Just have to be careful to balance out the gear in the boat for a good ride. I was able to also add 5 goose shells up in the nose of the boat on this hunt I did in Oklahoma last year and it paid off. I kept the Mainstream for guests to use to follow along, but I usually carry all the gear in the big kayak.
Both my boats are camo, but if one had say a yellow boat, they could still use it just to access hard to reach areas, then cover with tarp or stash the boat in the brush and hunt from flooded timber, blind, or bank.

I have the same setup as JVT. Old Town Predator K140. All I can add is it is one tough boat. I've put mine through places most city kayakers wouldn't dare go and it is still going strong. The only downside is it is a solo kayak. So if you have a hunting buddie he's on his own.

I bought my Redfish 14 for mainly the hunting aspect although I fish out of it occasionally also. I haven't hunted out of it yet as I got it in Feb. and hope to get our in early teal for a try. I will only carry 2 to 3 dozen dekes and purposely got a small framed lab for this purpose. I'm willing to give your idea a try lakeline if and when you can set it up pm me.

Another picture, Note I hunted from a layout blanket blind on this day. Kayak had been in the woods, but after I pulled it out, put the gun away inside the kayak and waded out to pick up decoys, looke what showed up. To them the kayak was just another log and the dog and me was just another stump.

And my Hood Ornaments. You see a kayak with snipe on the bow and you will know it is "Sniper John".

JvT, those are some great photos. If you don't mind me asking, what camera are you using?
