Anyone ran this brand? I'm getting ads like crazy. Looks like they have 100Ah batteries on-sale for $270. Trying to upgrade my 24v Ultrex to lithium batteries but can't decide if I should stick with "known" brands like Ionic.

Look at it like this, how many complaints are you reading from guys buying cheap lithiums? Very few at all, unless you want Bluetooth, they’ll do everything you want.

I'm always scared of boat fires. I thought I read a few horror stories of guys having lithiums explode due to over charging. I have a NOCO lithium-capable charger, but you never know with the cheap stuff.

I was hoping that a few people on here have used these.

I just bought a set of Power Queen 100ah for $229 each. I watched a couple of videos on Youtube where those guys tested them and took them apart to inspect cell and build quality. Those guys were really impressed. Might take a look at those too.

I founf this which might help explain what type of lithium battery is hazardous and what makes LiFePO4 batteries different from other lithium-ion batteries, and how do they compare in terms of safety?

How are LiFePO4 safer than other lithium batteries?
Phosphate-based batteries, like lithium iron phosphate batteries, offer a superior chemical and mechanical structure that does not overheat to unsafe levels. This increases safety compared to lithium-ion batteries made with different cathode materials.

The charged and uncharged chemical states of LiFePO4 are physically similar and highly robust, which allows the ions to remain very stable during the oxygen flux that occurs during charge cycles or possible malfunctions. The iron phosphate-oxide bond is stronger than the cobalt-oxide bond found in other lithium chemistries, so when the battery is overcharged or subjected to physical damage, the phosphate-oxide bond remains structurally stable and does not release excessive heat. This means lithium iron phosphate batteries are not prone to thermal runaway.

In addition to their increased safety, LiFePO4 batteries have other advantages over lithium-ion batteries. They are incombustable, meaning they will not burn when exposed to fire. This is an important feature in the event of mishandling during charging or discharging. Lithium iron phosphate batteries can also withstand harsh conditions, including freezing cold and scorching heat, as well as rough terrain. This makes them a reliable choice for use in recreational vehicles.

When subjected to hazardous events, such as collision or short-circuiting, LiFePO4 batteries won’t release flammable gases or catch fire. This significantly reduces the chance of harm and is especially important in a motorhome or caravan, where fire risk is a major concern.

I have an LiTime battery heading my way to take a look at, but they have been pretty well proven thus far. I've used several brands so far, Weize, Power Queen, Fiunie, Cenerius, Grener Power, and have only had an issue with the Weize. The issue was low capacity and it was warrantied just fine.

I do not have concerns about LiFePO4 chemistry batteries in my boats (and garage). They are very well proven and quite a safe chemistry. NMC on the other hand, I prefer not to mess with those.

This video stacks up some of the attributes, LiTime included.

What makes you think you need 100AH batteries???... I'm running 60AH in a 36v configuration and have never ever come close to running my batteries down... Most days I'm at 70% or better at the end of the day... Dan

But he said he is running a 24 volt. 100 amp battery may be better since he will only have 2.

I have 3ea 50ah on a 20' boat with a 112lb thrust TM. I stay on tbe TMa lot and cover a lot of water. I rarely drop below 80% in a full day.

I find folks get more comfortable with battery capacities when you back them up against lead-acids for a comparison.

  • Group 31 Lead Acid: 100Ah x 50% effective = 50Ah available per battery.
  • 50Ah x 2 Batteries in Series = 24v @ 50Ah

  • 50Ah LiFePO4: 50Ah x 100% Effective = 50Ah available per battery.
  • 50Ah x 2 Batteries in Series = 24v @ 50Ah

If you used 60Ah lithiums, you would have 20% more capacity available than running two Group 31 lead acids.

Still doesn't mean he needs 100ah batteries... Call one of the reputable guys who runs ads on here and ask a few questions... I'd bet they'd recommend something more economical... Dan

24v trolling motors draw more amps then 36v. Depending on the size of his rig going with 100a would be the better option. I run 50’s for my 36v Ultrex and normally in a tournament I’m down in the mid to low 60% range by end of the day but there’s been a few times where the wind was howling and I fished open water all day and have run them down into the low 30% range. If I fished more then a couple of club tourneys a month I’d go with 100’s next time around.

I bought this one recently, so far so good. Pretty cost effective and covers lithiums
