they’re quitting!! To the ‘olds’, FFS has taken the sport out of tournament fishing. Don’t fool yourself, it’s not a refusal to learn or they can’t afford it or bla bla. They don’t want to fish like that and it makes their job suck because they don’t believe in it. Fritts, Larry, Lane going back to where he can fish like he wants, and yes, even KVD. There will be more. It will eventually become a 20 year old kid circuit. Watch.. when FFS gets regulated or hopefully eliminated, they’ll be back..

I just think the physical grind of fishing at that level becomes hard for 65-80 year olds. Nixon has some health issues as does Fritts. Fritts actually took a medical exemption for a while prior to this.

Cmon get out of here with the common sense and reality- conspiracy theories are much more fun. The way some guys explain it all of us with fancy boats and ffs should just turn pro….😆

That's part of it but much of it is being a pro bass angler is not all that great in 2023. Many Elite and MLF anglers are moaning the sponsorship money is not there with the economy and I think there's validity to it this time, not crying wolf.

At the tournament at Lake Fork a couple of years Fritz had two flashers on his boat. I forget who I was riding with as a judge but he just shook his head. He was appreciative that these guys paved the way but knew Fritz wasn’t going to be a threat in many if any tournaments. He just wasn’t competitive for a number of reasons like age, health, technology, etc. Just look at his AOY. Time for him to pack it in. He’s done more in the sport than many winning a Classic, AOY and Forest Wood Cup.

It’s a grind. Tough enough to keep at a Classic Qualifier level if you are in your physical prime age. It gets even tougher in a tough economy when disposable income is down.

its his pathetic attempt to stay relevant. he can cater to all of the guys who are salty and refuse to change and are being left behind.

I'm in my early 60's and spent most of my career working in and around technology and the FFS thing wouldn't be that hard for my to grasp if I were in either the BPT or Elite series. Is being able to utilize FFS better than a lot of these older guys going to make me an instant hit on these bass tournament circuits? NOPE'
I watched a video Andrew Upshaw did about FFS and how it is really effecting Bass tournaments and the one thing he pointed out that really got my attention is most of the field in both the Elite series and the BPT are running FFS yet the majority of the fisherman are still getting skunked, that part really hasn't changed. I think from RB's prospective if things were as bad as he is letting on the top 25 in every one of these tournaments would be separated by a pound or two or three and almost the entire field would weigh in a limit or in an all fish count situation the numbers for all would be a lot higher yet it isn't.

Its not FFS. Its called getting old. Truth is the drive of a 60+ yr old vs a hungry full of energy 25 yr old is night and day. Im almost 52 and in solid shape, physically I can do it but mentally day in and day out I just have that do or die attitude like 20yrs ago. I would retire too cuz it’s just not as invigorating to fish 250 days a year like it used to be. Life and time changes your outlook on things. Having said that I’ll fish my butt iff in the tourneys I do fish and will love it cuz I got a job to pay the bills Mon-Fri
