Went out mid morning and the first stop was non-stop hook ups on solid legal length Hybrids. We were using bait but I wanted to try some deadsticking. It took me about 40 minutes cull out a limit over 20", with nearly every fish over 18" minimum.

After my fish were on the ice I dropped down a 1oz head White Ice fluke. It was greeted with not stop nibbles, felt like I dropped a night crawler into a nest of bream. But I had one finally grab it! Later in the day my dad tried it some with same results. After a couple minutes they wouldn't look at it anymore, but drop some bait down near bottom! BOOM instant hook up!

It was nice to get my dad (85yo) back in the boat, he started off slow but got the hang of it a caught a bunch too! My fishing buddy wanted to cull his limit so it took him a bit before he had his on ice.

It was one of those rare days when you couldn't do anything wrong!

We were deadsticking on Ray Hubbard yesterday and put fish in the boat. Water temp was 64 degrees. Usually I don’t start deadsticking until the water temp is 57 degrees.

nice job! I tried a few weeks ago and caught fish at Texoma. What lake were you at and what is the water temp?

I was out on Texoma yesterday and temps were 62.5. I wasn't deadsticking though.

One can catch stripes, sandies and hybrids drifting across river channels of late using a tandem dead stick set up. Heavier jig first with 3 foot tag line and a half ounce jig . White ice or peppered white ice is preferred ! Chartreuse spike is a must.

For the tag line do you use as swivel. Can you send a pic?

No swivel, a jig head with dropped eye helps. In the old days before dropped eye , had to tie same length tag line around head of first jig ! RSR and M.T. Pockets produce the dropped eyed in various weights. The colder the water temp the heavier the first weight .

Did a quick scouting trip yesterday. Have cousins coming next week for Thanksgiving. Planning to take them and their kids fishing Wednesday morning. Ranging from 9 years to 15 year old boys. Found fish at a few spots. Threw slabs, swim baits and deadsticking. Due to time constraints, I didn't try very hard with each lures but the deadstick setup got alot of the attention on livescope so that's what I stuck with yesterday. Caught a few at each spots and went back in. Water temp was 60 62. Hope they are still there on Wednesday. Planning to catch shad for the kids. Maybe buy minnows as back up.

I highly recommend a swivel above your set up. I’d not, you’re going to have some terrible line twist, especially with a tandem bait situation.

Spanked them yesterday on palestine dead sticking. Lots of doubles and triples. Earliest I have ever had luck dead sticking on LP by far.

I’d trust what Phil is saying

If one is bouncing the tandem off the bottom, line twists are static , otherwise in open water none. The anglers here have been dead sticking tandem for over ten years with only a hand full of twists.
