Chantix helped me quit 2 times. No bad side effects either. Also read “The Easy Way” to quit smoking by Allen Carr. Pretty enjoyable read.

I quit cold turkey 25 years ago. I was halfway through a pack and then threw it away. After the first few days I was home free. I still thought about smoking but major craving was gone. For me it was getting my thinking straight and then letting it go...good luck

get some beef jerky, chew on a pc when you want to smoke. have something for your hands to do too.

been a smoker for about 55 yrs. should have figured out how to quit about 30 yrs. ago.

cover the diversion part and I bet you can do cold turkey. have known some that tried the chantix, bad ju ju with the dreams etc. side effects can be bad.

good luck

F the anti depressants. It'll make you weird and impotent. What worked for me was nicotine gum. When I drank, I'd puff on a cigar. I've also heard that these new disposable vapes work too, but you're just trading one for the other. Either way its gunna suck. Good luck

If you TRY to quit, you will fail. You must DECIDE to quit.

The nicotine will be totally out of your system in 2 weeks, which means the chemical addiction part will last only a week or so. It is much harder to break the habit of smoking than the actual addiction.

For me, the hardest time was when I jumped into my truck. I wanted to reach over and light up in the worst way. I started keeping coffee stirring straws in my truck and I'd chew the hell out of them with my window rolled down. I also ate a lot of sunflower seeds because that occupied both my hands and mouth.

Also, let's not forget the financial ramifications here. You are about to give yourself a $500/month raise!

If you want to live, you have to stop smoking. Is it difficult? Probably the most difficult thing you will ever do. I quit 40+ years ago and it was 10 years after I quit that I didn't want a cigarette after a meal. Or with a beer. When I sat down to use the phone, I got an ashtray and dialed the number. This was before cell phones, and you had to go to where the telephone was. Smoking was a reward that I gave myself after work, or mowing the yard, or doing just about anything.
Now the positive: Food, after a while will taste better. You will be able to smell stuff that you missed for years. For me it got to where I couldn't stand to be around cigarette smoke. I never became a person that talked down to smokers. It will take a fair amount of time before your risk factors for health concerns will equal a non-smoker, but health wise it will be worth it.
If you have family that live with you, they are experiencing secondhand smoke. It is a big concern.

I have known people that say that something has to get you so I ain't afraid of smoking. Until you have either been a person with cancer or helped take care of a family member that has cancer, you have no idea how having cancer effects the people in your life. So, doing everything you can to not get cancer or any disease for that fact, should be a prime concern. I have seen many people that have lung cancer and if given a "do-over" they would not smoke.

Smoking is a physical and mental addiction. You have to understand that your body will scream for nicotine and your brain will also. There will be many reasons you can come up with that smoking that cigarette will be OK and you can start quitting next week. Don't listen to yourself.

Being in the backseat of my parents car on long trips with them both smoking, plus I had horrible motion sickness as well, made me NEVER want ti smoke. Guess parents do teach kids stuff. Glad I never took up the habit. I didn't want to put my kids thru what I had to.

My Mom said I started smoking at 5YO (my Dad smoked) and I quit on my 40th birthday .... haven't had a one for over 25 years ..... quit cold turkey, because they went up to over $2 a pack in the 90's
First thing I noticed was my smell came back, didn't even know it was gone. ..... then I gained 100 lbs, but that might be because I was 40
