By my Dr. he said that he cannot control my BP as long as I continue to smoke. All my numbers look good and smoking is causing my problems he sent me a prescription for some Chantix are something like that I'm not sure about taking it but rather try cold turkey so I can enjoy my beers in the evening . Any of y'all have any experience or advice ?

I did the Chantix thing for a couple weeks. It worked as far as wiping out cravings....but the completely sudden fits of rage over small schizzle and wackadoodle dreams weren't worth, so I quit. Doesn't matter what method you use, you have to actually WANT to quit and not just because the doc said so. When I finally got to that point, Nicorrette mints did the trick for me.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading

I used it to quit and couldn't recommend it enough as long as the side effects don't hit you too hard. Sounds like Crow didn't have a great experience. I did have substantial side effects but they were manageable and better than the alternative (not quittin).
I hit 1 year on November 4th for context.

gonna be honest with you. you can only quit smoking cigarettes when you truly want to quit. i finally did quit a few years back, after about 20 years of smoking. i remember waking up with a severe cough, and told myself, "alright, i'm done."
it doesn't sound like you truly want to quit.

I don't know your age...and can only imagine how hard it would be to stop. You know what you will do to yourself if you don't listen....plenty of other issues besides BP to add to what you are dealing with now. I do a tremendous amount of work with the American Heart Association...its simple, you smoke more than likely you will die an earlier death....then again, I race motocross at 60 ....so WTF. Plenty of those dudes light up .... I just know if I am going to smoke something, it aint tabacco.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

Best of luck. I quit smoking in 1988. Cold Turkey. I still would like one to this day.

I smoked a pack a day or more for 40 years. I used Chantix to quit 11 years ago. Yeah, crazy dreams for a week or so in the beginning, but they're only dreams. Very minimal side effects for me, but that's not the case for everyone. You might have to give up your evening beer. I found out that I had certain habits that were tied to smoking that I needed to change.
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.
