My son and I have some business out that way (Chandler, actually)this weekend and wanted to check lakr Palestine out for the first time. Does anybody have any good guide recommendations (bass or otherwise), or maybe have a back deck open if you’re heading out? (We’d gladly pitch in for fuel, etc.) If not, any recommendation on bank accessibile ponds in the area or spots on the lake? Thanks!

Purtis Creek State Park is not far from there for Shore fishing or Kayaking (they have rentals). If you're that close, look at lake Athens for typically better fishing.
Can't help you with guides.

The only guide I've had friends use at Cedar Creek is Big Crappie. They all had really good luck with him. Personally I'd look into maybe James Niggimeyer and have him take you to either Athens or Palestine. I do think those two lakes both have some good bass guides.

Go take a guide for Palestine instead. It’s a much better fishery.

You're gonna have a chance to catch much better quality and quantity. Heck, you could catch a 12 lber + there. Cedar Creek, not even a chance.

Haven’t been on a guided trip since okeechobee when I was a teenager living in FL. This craps expensive now lol. I guess me and my boy will figure it out but thanks for the info. We are both army vets by the way if that matters, combat here 3x to iraq. him just Korea lol. Hate to pimp that but I’d love to hit some water out there.

Tom Mayne is a great guy. He does bass and crappie trips. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer guy anywhere. My only complaint about Tom is I can never beat him in a single tournament out there.

Tom Mayne is very good but he stays booked. (for a reason!) If you can't get him for your dates, you could try Ricky Vandergriff.

Rickey passed away a couple of months ago! Might give Robert Walls a call. I think he does a few trips on Palestine and Tyler!

I would stay away from Palestine right now. CNN is saying that the meanies in Israel are killing all of the Palestinians for no reason at all.

Look up Hookset Brothers combat recovery on Facebook. They live around the lake Palestine area. Maybe one of them will take you out on the lake
