Met a Marine Sgt today.
Due to theft prevention devices on my truck, it would not start when Matthew Carroll (Jigum Jigs) and I tried to pull my boat out of Twin Cove Park today on Lavon.
Here we are, boat in the water, truck won't move and boaters beginning to show up.
I have to insert a little chronological info here. I called Matt K (a member here) and asked him to go to my house to get the keypad that would unlock the device. He was nice enough to volunteer to do a bunch of driving to help me out. Thanks pardner!
While Matt K was on the way a young man named Dustin Burns stepped up. He volunteered to take me, Jigum and the boat to my house to get the same door beeper. A quick cell phone call and Dustin saved Matt K. a long trip. Thanks MK!

Read on please.

Long story short. Marine Sgt Dustin Burns did all that driving when he absolutely did not have to do. He didn't know Jigum or me, but he put in a lot of time in a hot parking lot, pulled my boat out of the water, took Jigum ,the boat and me to my house. I grabbed the extra door beeper and Dustin drove me back and waited to make sure everything was good to go.
He recntly got out of the Marines. However, while still on active reserve, the Corp called him back to active duty to go BACK to Iraq! He's very positive about his second tour too.

He didn't have to do a dang thing...he is a hero already...If I had a medal I'd pin it on him myself!
Jigum, I hope you made your meeting.
Dustin, you have a all expense paid full day guided fishing trip coming at your request. UUUGH-WAH!

No, he didn't make his meeting with me, but sounds like he had worse problems than that. We will meet another day Matthew, and I am glad things came out ok for you and your truck with he help of some good folks.

I am not surprised!

And you must have helped someone else out in the past. What goes around, comes around!

I'll go out on a limb and say there are a lot of darn fine folks out there, and maybe even most of them are, but we just hear WAY too much about and from the ones who aren't! Hats off to Dustin for his deeds and service, and to you, Fly, for letting us know about him. Like my wife and I do for our kids, it's good to catch folks in the act... of doing the right thing!

"OUUUUUTTTT-standin'!"
